David Hanauer

I am a poet and journaler who uses a variety of written and arts processes to explore and express human experience. I have a particular interest in the voices of the people who feel they have been marginalized. I use poetic forms to explore the meaning of life. In my professional life as a university level researcher and applied linguist, I have developed a range of arts-based research methodologies to allow the uniqueness of individual experience to be expressed. In particular I developed the methods of poetic auto(ethno)graphy as a way of allowing me and others to understand a wide range of human life.
