Autumn Leaphart
My practice is a multidisciplinary exploration of identity, memory, and myth. Drawing inspiration from the Baroque, Neogothic, and Romantic eras, I create immersive works that span painting, sculpture, textile, sound, and experimental film. Across these mediums, I explore the fragmented self through chiaroscuro, layered textures, and emotionally charged contrasts.
Rooted in the earthy palettes of 14th-century Italian oil traditions, my visual work grounds the intangible—while elements like fabric, clay, and ambient sound breathe life into unseen forces. Through gentle rituals of making, I construct symbolic worlds that ask: What lives in the spaces between perception and truth? Each work becomes a meditation—inviting the viewer into a threshold space where mysticism, embodiment, and personal mythology unfold.
At its core, my practice seeks to reclaim emotion and intuition as sacred technologies of expression and connection.
