Phoenix

Phoenix is a multidisciplinary emerging artist based in Pittsburgh. Her process often begins with sculptural forms that are photographed and translated into oil paintings, allowing shifts in perspective, light, and texture to shape each piece’s emotional resonance. She earned her BA in Studio Art and Psychology from Hope College in 2025 and is currently completing her MA in Art Therapy at Seton Hill University.

Grounded in psychology and art therapy frameworks, Phoenix’s work explores the emotional dualities of human relationships—tenderness and tension, intimacy and volatility—through abstraction and intentional use of color. Influenced by the philosophy of artists such as Rothko and Kandinsky, she approaches color as an emotional language rather than a purely visual one, inviting slow looking and personal interpretation. Rather than prescribing meaning, the work functions as a reflective space where viewers are encouraged to bring their own experiences into dialogue with the image.

Her work has been exhibited in several galleries and showcases across the United States, and she is a recipient of the prestigious Jon F. Kay Award for Excellence in the Arts.
