Peggy McClure

Peggy McClure is a mixed media artist based in Pittsburgh, formerly of Boston, where she attended Massachusetts College of Art, and lived for many years. Her work is deeply inspired by nature and lived experience, while exploring questions of impermanence and fragmentary memory.

Rooted in organic abstraction, her practice emphasizes materiality, layering, and texture. She works with various media, including pencil, paint, collage, mark-making, printmaking, and both lens-based and lensless photography, where abstraction emerges through close attention to erosion, residue, weathering, and growth.

In Massachusetts, McClure was a member at Kingston Gallery in Boston and 6 Bridges Gallery in Maynard, and was on the teaching staff of the Danforth Art Museum. Since relocating to Pennsylvania in 2023, she joined the Fiber Arts Guild and Associated Artists of Pittsburgh (aap_pgh) Her work has been included in exhibitions at the Tomayko Foundation, the Martha Gault Gallery at Slippery Rock University, the Radiant Hall Collection at 8th & Penn, and the annual aap exhibition, as well as in exhibitions in Massachusetts.
