Haifa Subay

Haifa Subay is a Yemeni visual artist based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her multidisciplinary practice explores themes of memory, displacement, identity, and resilience, examining the human impact of conflict, migration, and social injustice. Through painting, installation, and public art, she creates work that invites reflection on personal and collective histories while emphasizing dignity, empathy, and hope.

Subay’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Singapore Biennale, and she was shortlisted for the Benesse Prize. She is the recipient of the Prince Claus Seed Award and has participated in numerous exhibitions, residencies, and public art projects in the United States and abroad.

She is a studio artist at Radiant Hall and continues to develop projects that engage with themes of cultural memory, belonging, and the power of art to foster dialogue across communities.
